On a recent chilly Sunday morning I had the pleasure of working with 12 month old Axel & his human Becky. Calling Axel a superstar is an understatement. He handled the cold early morning & not going for his usual walk with a sense of adventure & curiosity.
I'm sure you've seen gorgeous photos of dogs within a cityscape (I'll share my recent photos taken in Adelaide CBD here soon) but have you ever wondered if the same thing could be created within a coutry town? I did, so set about looking for suitable locations here within Mildura. Axel & Becky were up for the challenge so we met at the Arts Centre to see what we could create.
Within sculptures located on the grounds we found fun shapes to explore, as well as interesting lines of stairs and railings. Axel was great at posing - super keen for treats he was happy to go where we asked him. The beautiful morning light hit his fur in all the right ways, making him at times appear lit up by gold.
Unlike Becky & Axel, I'm not a fan of early morning starts, however to get that beautiful light in this location there was no other way around it. I was bleary eyed but keen & that's all that matters. With a willing model in Axel & Becky being a great handler our hour session was over in the blink of an eye. I feel the photos speak for themself, showing the early morning was well worth it I have a few more photos to edit & deliver to Becky but i think she is happy with what I've sent her so far.
The session was also a great way to capture memories of Axel at 12 months old. I can only imagine how much he will have changed in another 12 months time.
If you'd like your own urban dog photo session, get in touch via my website. I'd love to create lifelong memories of your best friend.
